Why the name?
the project name is an abbreviation from “SDCard for Atari ST/E”, in short: SD4ST.
Why SD4ST?
- you are no longer limited to the size of the floppy drive!
- it has 2 slots for micro SD cards, so emulates up to 2 HDDs. It’s very useful e.g. to boot from one card and partition, format another one,
- the SD cards are hot-pluggable, i.e. you don’t need to power off. SD4ST will notify Atari when the card is changed,
- has a battery backed up RTC,
- chip it’s reasonably fast and affordable.
SD4ST+ vs SD4ST
From 15th Oct 2022 we started to rolling out a new version of the device called SD4ST+. The old SD4ST will be no longer available. After successfull launch, we had a lot of questions from more advanced users, asking to have availability to use the device with higher-end Atari versions such as Mega STE or Stacy. SD4ST+ is the answer ! -The new hardware is ready.
